The Kustom Kulture Icon - The 1949 Mercury Lead Sled.

The '49 Merc is one of the most sought after beauties in the kustom car world; this post war Mercury Eight Coupe featured a revamped motor and a body begging to be chopped!  The Lead Sled was first envisioned by Sam & George Barris in the 50's with the Hirohata Merc.

With that car, the craze was in full tilt and almost 80 years later, it has no signs of stopping.

We are stoked that another builder asked Old Anvil to give his Mercury the lead sled make-over.  We gave this Merc the full lowered chassis on coil overs, touched almost every piece of sheet metal, chopped the top 3", frenched the headlights modified a Camaro bumper for the grill and a ton of other Kustom Kulture tricks of the trade.  This car will go back to the owner in bare metal so he can finish his dream car with his own touches.
