Paul recently inherited a 1969 Mustang fastback AFX drag car from Chuck Hoffman and Cliff Lozis who are retiring from racing after over 20 years with the car. The Mustang was a special order car which sat unsold in the back of the Holman Moody dealership for many years before a previous owner purchased it and turned it unto a drag car. The car has paperwork but has never been registered or driven on the street, only drag raced.

Our plan is to use our know-how to convert this VERY old school Ford drag car into something actually usable on the streets today. We want to convert it from carbureted to EFI, control the fuel delivery, timing, cooling system, etc. with a modern ECU, completely modernize the fuel system, update the wheels, tires and brakes, convert all the external lighting to LED, put the car on a diet (it currently weighs 3,450lbs) and ditch all the old mechanical gauges in favor of a digital display.

And we are going to cover it all in series of videos for our YouTube channel with the end goal being to take the car to Holley Ford Fest 2025.

1969 MUSTANG FASTBACK

The Mustang has run as quick as 9.50s in the quarter and 5.90s in the eighth and Paul is convinced that with the help of all the modern upgrades we can improve on that number while also making it actually drivable on the street for the first time in the car’s life.
